Central Oregon Rivian Club – Think Wild Volunteer Opportunity – Operation “Beaver Food” Harvest Day
We have a new opportunity to help the Think Wild Wildlife Conservation Center, since the mid-January cold snap canceled our previous attempt on Day of Service/MLK day.
Please join us for Operation “Beaver Food” Harvest Day – a willow stick harvest at Pine Creek Conservation Area on Friday, March 1st.
The harvested willow sticks will be used for beaver habitat restoration projects later this spring. This is a great opportunity to learn more about the beavers in our high desert landscape, and dip your toe into the challenging world of Salix identification!
Those who want to utilize their truck beds or SUV cabins can likely help haul some of the harvested sticks back (but this is not required).
We’ll meet up at Think Wild Wildlife Hospital at 8 am, then drive (or carpool) ~2 hours/100 miles to the streamside worksite near Fossil, OR.
Please pack a lunch and bring weather appropriate clothing and gloves. Arrive with a full charge. We can also make a stop at the Madras RAN to charge on the way home if needed.
If you would like to join us in volunteering, please RSVP before Feb 28 and we will sign everyone up together. We would like to fill at least 7 spots. And there may be some Rivian swag involved… 😉
