The Deschutes Land Trust is a non-profit organization that conserves and cares for the lands and waters that sustain Central Oregon. They also make these lands available to the public, and host educational hikes and events throughout the year.
After they acquire new land properties, they have to take down all the fencing and remove non-native vegetation – and this is where they could use some help.
So for Earth Day 2024, we have made arrangements to help out the DLT with restoring their new property at Paulina Creek Preserve. It is about a half hour south of Bend (near La Pine) and is not yet open to the public.
Those who would like to help out with fence removal will be pulling T-posts, cutting up wire fencing, and putting them into Land Trust rig to be taken to a metal recycler. DLT will provide gloves and wire cutters. For those who choose to remove vegetation, bring some gloves and we will pool some tools to help.
Paulina Creek Preserve also has a pretty good system of non-paved roads so it’s a good thing we have capable (quiet, non-emitting) off-road vehicles!
Please RSVP by clicking the ‘Book Now’ button.
There may be some Rivian swag for those who join in… 😉
