On Sept. 14, CORC’ers will be heading to the Newberry National Volcanic Monument to enjoy its natural beauty.
We’ll meet at 9:00 am at The Hamptons Inn & Suites in Bend and head south on Hwy 97 for the 45-minute drive to the area. We’ll head up to the top of Paulina Peak and get a group pic with its stunning views. On the way down, we can stop at the Paulina Creek Falls overlook.
Next, we can stop at Paulina Lake Lodge. Some may want to stay for lunch. For the rest of us, let’s plan to pack a lunch and hike the seven-mile trail around Paulina Lake.
Please note: A recreation pass is needed to access all parts of Newberry National Volcanic Monument. You can use the Northwest Forest Pass or America the Beautiful Pass. Otherwise, it is $5 for a day pass.
